The East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce is excited to launch the Third Annual National Civics Bee®/Rhode Island State Finals. In this competition, Rhode Island middle school students from around the state will test their civics knowledge and compete for national title. The 2025 & 2026 Rhode Island State Finals were a big success, and we are hoping to build it and increase participation for the 2027 Finals. The National Civics Bee®/Rhode Island State Finals will take place in June 2027 at the Swift Community Center in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
Participants in the National Civics Bee® will have the chance to gain recognition for their civics knowledge and skills, and compete for prestigious awards, including prizes worth at least $1,000 for the state champion and $50,000 for the national winner. This competition enables students to explore issues that matter to their communities, furthering their understanding of civic engagement and fostering responsible citizenship. For those students interested in entering the National Civics Bee®, the online application portal is now open. The deadline is February 2, 2027 at 11:59PM Hawaii Standard Time (February 3, 2027 at 4:59AM EST).
This year, there is a new resource called the 2027 Educator Toolkit. This resource is a collection of supplemental resources that will help you bring the National Civics Bee® to your classrooms. There will also be National Educator Webinars on how to bring the National Civics Bee® to your classrooms.
